Memphis LK joins Astral People Management

Astral People are thrilled to announce that, coming alongside this release is the exciting news that Memphis LK has signed to Astral People and Our Bad Habit (The Neighbourhood, Bakar, Dora Jar) for global management.

Taking time out of her stacked summer festival appearances, producer, artist and DJ Memphis LK today reveals her Too Much Fun EP via Dot Dash / Remote Control Records. The EP lands in the same month she was named Spotify AU/NZ's EQUAL ambassador, following in the footsteps of Meg Mac and KYE taking over billboards and playlists.

The title-track is a play on tempos featuring floating, silky vocals atop a bed of energetic, forward-thinking production. It was co-written and co-produced by Pharaoh Vice (of multi-platinum collective Internet Money) and Vendr who shared "I’m hyped to be a part of this track. Shoutout Pharaoh and Memphis, they took this track to another level." Offering insight to the subject matter, Memphis LK adds "The track is a song about being 95% over someone but you’re convincing yourself it's 100%."

The EP rounds-out CLASH UK’s Track of the Day ‘Whip’ which was also added to full rotation on triple j, and latest single 'Coffee' which is featured on Pitchfork's Selects Playlist, plus Spotify's NMF, Indie Arrivals, crush and Front Left. They feature alongside the euphoric, yet-to-be released 'Where The Angels Go To Die'.

Across the project what's made obvious is Memphis LK's effortless marriage of underground dance energy with slick pop sensibilities. A self-taught DJ and beatmaker already, on Too Much Fun Memphis LK turned her attention towards building herself as a producer, fleshing the knowledge she already had out into a fully realised passion. She thrives on challenging herself and the sonic structures around her; flourishing when exploring sounds that step further into territories unknown.

The sounds listeners can hear on the record represent Memphis LK creating from a space of complete independence and control; her vision has never been clearer. Creating music with her live shows and audiences in mind has shifted the purview of the new Memphis LK music. Refining her craft has boosted her enthusiasm for music as a whole, while reinforcing her position within the Australian scene as an artist whose potential is still revealing itself in exciting ways.

An unwavering DIY ethos and commitment to authenticity in her output has attracted fans to wildly popular Memphis LK sets across the country supporting Tove Lo, Hayden James and currently Rina Sawayama. Recently nominated for Music Victoria’s Best DJ category, her profile has grown exponentially garnering a cult following of over 250K on TikTok, and spots on the summer festival circuit including Splendour in the Grass, Listen Out, Beyond The Valley, Wildlands and Rhythm & Alps. She also recently shared an official remix for Seattle's UMI here and was invited to lay down a live mix for HÖR Berlin, you can watch here. Her connection with the underground scene has made her an integral part of Australia’s fresh wave of producers and artists taking dance music into a new chapter.
