Moktar shares new single 'Immigrant'

Egyptian-Australian DJ/Producer Moktar drop his new single 'Immigrant'.

Experimental sonics and a peek into the mind of a limitless artist as Moktar bursts back onto the scene with ‘Immigrant’, a telling five track EP that absorbs his Middle Eastern heritage, experiences navigating his identity and influential UK club sounds in one. It’s the follow up to his highly favoured self-titled 2021 EP, ‘Moktar’, which made its way to the number #1 most played across Australian community radio and was supported globally by Anz, Tash LC, Raji Rags, Jamie XX, Bonobo, Groove Armada, and Hudson Mohawke to name a few.

The first single to drop on September 1st is eponymous lead single ‘Immigrant’, which Moktar uses as a backdrop to air the stories of many as well as his own, told through a chopped vocal sample of Arsenal Football Club’s host and hype man, Frimpon

Moktar explains - “’Immigrant' is about people leaving their countries in search of a better or different life, highlighting the struggle so many go through to be accepted and how hard people must have to work towards building what they have today. I’ve seen how much my family have been able to build in Australia in the time that they’ve been there, and that’s really inspiring so I wanted to touch on that too. There are also key words in the track that I’ve sampled and weaved in to highlight my own personal experiences.”

This single falls just as Moktar’s highly anticipated debut EU tour has started - including Yung Singh’s curated residency at Phonox, a b2b with Mr Scruff at Field Day. Lost Village Festival, Eastern Electrics, Skreamism @Amnesia, Werkhaus, Rex Club and more.
