In the daring sonic fiction of JP López, the Medellín artist fuses techno, Latin-influenced tribal, hyper-electronica, carefully sculpted IDM, and cutting-edge dembow-bass technology with intensity and precision. As one of the heads behind the groundbreaking TraTraTrax, he has helped establish the label as a vital platform for Latinx sonic exploration.
His future-classic Escándaloo EP on VOAM (Summer 2023) was hailed by RA and Crack Magazine as one of the year’s best. In 2024, his debut on Bristol’s stalwart Timedance, Breathe... Godspeed, earned unanimous critical praise, including Pitchfork’s Best New Music. Journalist Philip Sherburne described it as “an essential record for the vanguard of dance music.”
Alongside key appearances at clubs and festivals such as Dekmantel, Berghain, and Berlin Atonal, López launched his own Bogotá party, also titled Escándaloo. The series has sold out every edition and brought artists like Skee Mask, Batu, Pariah, and Livwutang to Colombia for the first time.
